NewsJuly 2008 ADMIRAL RESEARCH Insurance group Admiral has carried out some interesting research into things that distract drivers on the road. Admiral questioned adults who have travelled on a long journey with children and found that children getting bored is a problem for the majority of drivers. A significant 73% of adults said that kids getting bored is the toughest part of travelling with them, revealing that boredom can become an issue after 21-40 minutes in the car. Dr Claire Halsey, a clinical psychologist and parenting expert, thinks that preparation can avoid the stress and distractions that a bored child can cause. Planning is the key, so make sure that there is a strategy to fight the boredom before you set off: "Increase the chance of a peaceful ride by organising plenty to entertain..." Dr Halsey advises that there should be plenty of thought put into a variety of in-car entertainment and 67% of adults agree that keeping kids entertained is vital for an easy, tantrum free car trip. There is no better way to keep a child entertained than with the new modular RSE unit from Audiovox Incaar Systems - DVD, USB and AV input, not to mention wireless headphones, means even the longest car journey can be peacful. ![]() |
